Many of our families and therapists call Prescott, Arizona home. Just minutes from our Pediatric Therapy office are family-friendly activities to do in Prescott throughout the year for all ages. Whether you are escaping the Phoenix heat or new to our community, here are a few of our favorite activities to do in Prescott with the whole family.
Get your daily dose of nature.
When you think of the Arizona desert, you may not envision spending the day outdoors surrounded by water. Our three main Prescott Lakes are Watson Lake, Goldwater Lake, and Lynx Lake. While you won’t be able to swim in these lakes, there are plenty of things to keep the whole family (including your four-legged friends) entertained. You’ll find beautiful hiking trails, water activities like fishing and kayaking, and playground equipment.
If you’re looking for beautiful rock formations, hike the Constellation Loop Trail. It’s a favorite trail of many local residents.
Satisfy your sweet tooth.
You can’t visit Prescott without taking a stroll around the block on historic Whiskey Row and seeing some of Prescott’s oldest history. Stop by the Treat Center for caramel corn, caramel apples and homemade ice cream.
Shannon’s Gourmet Cheesecakes is another town favorite where you can choose from over 20 indulgent cheesecake flavors like Turtle (caramel, chocolate chips and pecans on top of an original cheesecake) and Raspberry Key Lime.
Embark on a wildlife adventure.
If your family loves to hike and enjoys the company of animals, a truly unique experience is planning a llama and picnic hike with Arizona Backcountry Llamas. You’ll not only learn about the area from your tour guides, but also about your new wooly llama friends.
Situated on ten acres north of Prescott and overlooking Willow Lake, Heritage Park Zoo is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary with interactive animal experiences providing education and entertainment for all ages. They currently house more than 200 animals – among them a Bengal Tiger, two Black Bears, two Clouded Leopard siblings, Mexican Gray Wolves, Bobcats, Lynx, Lemurs, various reptiles, and one of the largest tarantula displays in the Southwest.
